I’m moving this weekend and there are boxes everywhere and I have so much stuff and I still can’t throw away any of my Nylon magazines, sorry. But we’re having a moving sale so come by things pretty please.
Everything is in disarray and I’m trying to get things in order at my old job while preparing to start my new job. And I’m stressed and wish I could just lay by the pool before I don’t have a pool to lay by anymore.
But it’s OK because I got to sit and chat with two lovely ladies yesterday for three hours about creative projects and boys. And the profile I wrote on Nely Galan, the first Latina TV network president, came out today and she sent me this note:
Dear Caroline,
This is the most authentic article anyone has written about me. You truly captured my voice. I can’t believe in that in the middle of getting my hair colored and all the interruptions-by phone-you captured me so perfectly. Thank you so much!!!!
With gratitude, Nely
She landed an editor job at Seventeen magazine when she was still in high school because she wrote them a letter about being wrongly accused of plagiarism at her Catholic private school. I interviewed her at a hair salon and she kept having to go and call me back after getting her hair washed or blow-dried. She’ll also be the keynote speaker at the women’s conference the company I work for is throwing next week.
Everything is happening at once and so much is changing but with every breath I take I know I’m ready.
Beach House — “Lazuli”
This concert is definitely in my Top 5. I just want twinkling lights and Victoria Legrand’s haunting voice is my head all the time.
